Safety Today, Inc. Triples Size of Distribution Facility
February 25, 2002—Safety Today, Inc. has increased the size of its central distribution headquarters threefold with its recent move to a new facility in Groveport (Columbus), Ohio, according to Ted Cowie, Safety Today Chief Operating Officer. The new 95,000-square-foot facility incorporates one of the largest dedicated safety products warehouses in the country and the largest in the region, Cowie reported. Safety Today currently represents the leading manufacturers of safety product in North America, covering personal, environmental and foodservice safety.
Safety Today’s new facility houses its three major business activities: Safety Today Protective Products Group, a full service safety equipment distributor and manager of Total Quality Safety programs for local, regional and national accounts; Safety Today Food Safety Group, a national supplier of protective products and systems to the foodservice, restaurant and grocery industries; and Safety Today Safety Services Group, providing equipment repair, refurbishment and site-specific loss prevention and risk management services. The building supports several on-site customer-specific safety stores and five dedicated inventory/customer service facilities throughout North America. This allows customers in 8 states to get 1-day product turnaround time and 32 other states to have 2- to 3-day product turnaround.
The company’s new headquarters, which supports 13 other locations across the United States and Canada, is located in Columbus, Ohio, a major North American distribution hub. The facility is in a designated free trade zone and is also an American Institute of Baking (AIB) approved operation. Safety Today, Inc. is ISO/9002 Certified for conformity to standards for quality management systems set by the International Organization for Standardization.
